3 | How do I update CONSULT-II? |
| |
| | The first step is to review the CONSULT-II
Software Cards bulletin covering the procedures
for setting up your computer's Ethernet card
and CONSULT-II. (Nissan: NTB00-022b or

4 | Issue with updating the Diagnostic Software Card? |
| |
| | If the diagnostic card does not update
properly, retry the update process using
ASIST. The Diagnostic software updated is a
two step update process. Step 1) Software
refresh. Step 2) Software update.
Incident Symptom:
When the card is updated and CONSULT-II is
powered on, it beeps and blinks repeatedly and
does not boot up normally.
Solution:
A) Place the CONSULT-II back into Trasfer
Files via LAN mode (if the C-II is still
beeping and blinking, place your finger on the
screen to get back to resident mode).
B) Update the card a second time.

7 | ECM/TCM data transfer OK, but software cards do not update. |
| |
| | If you recently converted to ASIST and have
two network cards, you have two choices:
Option 1) Disable the internet
connection
temporarily
when you need to perform a software update.
This is done in the Control Panel/Network
connections. "Right-click" on the Internet
Local Area Connection and select "disable".
After the software update is
complete, "enable"
the internet connection using the same steps.
Option 2) Swap the network TCP/IP and
Subnet mask
settings and cables for each of the network
cards. The LAN/Internet ethernet port will be
used for CONSULT-II communication and the
current CONSULT-II port will be used for the
LAN/Internet connection. Write down all the
TCP/IP numbers before making this change (IP
address, Subnet mask, default gateway,
Perferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server)
Be sure to swap the cables in the back of the
PC (Unplug the internet cable and CONSULT
cable, and switch the port that they plug
into). |

8 | Does CONSULT-II use a special Cable? |
| |
| | It depends on how CONSULT-II is attached to the
Computer. CONSULT-II comes with a special
"CrossOver" Cable which attaches directly from
the computer to the CONSULT-II. If you use a
Hub then a standard "straight" Ethernet cable
is needed to attach from the Hub to the CONSULT-
II. |
|
top of page |
9 | What is a Hub? |
| |
| | For computers which are attached to a LAN or
directly to a DSL/Cable connection, a Router
Hub or Hub is ideal for attaching CONSULT-II
into the network. One note is to be sure to
use a standard Ethernet cable when attaching to
a Hub. (Currently CONSULT-II uses a CrossOver
Ethernet cable when attached directly into your
computer.) |
